Extract your own DNA at home!

DNA, or Deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary information in humans and most other plants and animals.  Nearly every cell in a person’s body has the same DNA.  It is made up of four chemical bases called adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), and thymine (T).

Human DNA consists of 3 billion bases, and the order of these bases largely determines who we are, including what we look like, our predisposition to diseases such as hereditary cancer and how we respond to certain medications.

Have you ever wanted to see your own DNA?

You can easily extract your own at home using some simple household items: water, salt, dish soap and rubbing alcohol.  Have a look at this short video to see how to do it by clicking here https://youtu.be/fQo4bqV29Gs or scroll below to play the video.
