Myriad has been a supporter of the event for several years, and both Huntsman and Myriad share a similar vision for future advancements in cancer technologies and treatments. Notable attendees included John Huntsman, Governor Gary Herbert, and BYU basketball coach and cancer survivor Dave Rose. The event is a celebration to recognize and support cancer survivors. It is one of Huntsman’s largest fundraising events, bringing in an estimated $1.2 Million this year alone. Collin Burton, a Myriad employee and head of the Myriad Ragnar team, raised and donated all funds generated from several Myriad teams that participated in the Ragnar relay this past June. Under Collin’s leadership, the Myriad Ragnar team raised the most money out of 300 participating teams and he was invited to attend the gala by the Huntsman Hometown Heroes program. Myriad has contributed to the gala each year in support of the organization. (pictured above is Myriad employee Collin with Nobel Prize winner Mario Capecchi) This year HCI will provide approximately 100,000 highly specialized cancer treatments to people from the Intermountain West, throughout the United States, and beyond. They offer the only Phase I clinical program (often considered a cancer patient’s last and best hope) of any clinical facility located between Denver and San Francisco. The organization will also help over 1 million people with their cancer questions through their award-winning website.
