Physician Speakers Help Create HCRA Standard of Care
In the last weeks, Myriad Genetics has been conducting alumni speaker trainings for its front-line healthcare professional and mid-level providers. These providers have previously worked with Myriad to speak with their peers in a variety of settings, from presentations to a large number of providers at sponsored events, at medical society meetings and meeting one on one with providers in their offices. Myriad has made this investment in order to increase the familiarity of these speakers with, not only the basics of hereditary cancer risk assessment (HCRA) for appropriate patients, but new information on making HCRA standard of care and integrating it into daily practice.
The training was conducted at two sites, Atlanta and Salt Lake City, plus for some participants, virtually, through a series of webinars. Speakers were familiarized with the principles of HCRA and integration of assessment into medical practice through the facilitation of well-qualified clinical experts in these areas. A substantial part of the training also included work with the individual alumni on their ability to speak more effectively to groups both large and small, developing not only their grasp of the subject material, but their effectiveness as speakers in all situations. These trained healthcare professional and mid-level speakers are available through the local Account Executives and Regional Medical Specialists to work with groups across the country to increase their understanding of the need for HCRA for all patients.
