June is Men’s Health Month and it’s important to help generate awareness on education for early detection of Men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Men, not including skin cancer. 1 of 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime. Questions asked from men diagnosed with prostate cancer can be difficult. What helps are the answers provided by Myriad’s Prolaris Test. This genetic test for men diagnosed with prostate cancer can aid medical professionals by predicting prostate cancer aggressiveness and ten-year survival outcomes. A genetic test like Prolaris can help with defining the best treatment strategy for men that have been diagnosed to determine if they’re a candidate for active surveillance or for more aggressive treatments, like a Prostatectomy.

The data was presented at the American Urological Association’s (AUA) annual meeting in May 2017. Most significant with that study, the Prolaris Test showed strong predictive power in both African American and Non-African American prostate cancer patients.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation suggests that men can start screening for prostate cancer by the time they’re forty to forty-five years old. For Men’s Health Month, talk to your medical professional to determine if it’s time to start screening for early detection of prostate cancer.
